SWAN source code
The source code for the latest stable release can be
downloaded here. This distribution may be
implemented on Windows, Linux, macOS and Unix-like systems, provided a
Fortran90 compiler is available.
To build the software, unpack the source tarball and follow the instructions
in INSTALL.README at the top of the source code tree.
Please check
this page
for possible bug fixes or resolved issues.
SWAN binaries
Pre-compiled binary distributions of SWAN 41.51 for Windows,
Linux and macOS are also provided.
Note that the tar files can be extracted in any folder and has no further installation steps. Do not forget to add the
installed folder to your path.
PDF manuals
The following manuals in PDF format can be downloaded: the User Manual, the
Scientific/technical documentation and the
Implementation Manual.
Utilities
Conversion programs are provided to convert the old 1D and 2D spectra files
generated by a SWAN version older than 40.00 into the current format.
Test cases
Six examples of test cases can be downloaded for your own purpose of testing SWAN on your computer. These examples
consist of command files and data. Four examples are academic tests: a refraction
test, a shoaling test, a slanted current test
and a ring test.
The other example is the Haringvliet field case.
For this same case, an
example of unstructured mesh is also provided.
The examples are complete with output files from our own test runs. These results can be compared on one hand
with the analytical solutions that are supplied in numerical form and on the other hand observations at
several buoy locations for the Haringvliet case.
Previous releases
The following old (non-supported) version of SWAN is available for download:
